Today was a day of safety and wildland fire management training. All the land stewardship staff at Natural Lands Trust who are on the prescribed burn crew also had to take the Forest Service's "moderate" physical fitness test: walk 2 miles with a 25-pound pack in less than 30 minutes. It's not hard—we all passed—it's just not...my idea of good fun. Especially at 7:30 a.m. in high winds with snow flurries.
