This summer we will offer two internship opportunities at Crow's Nest Preserve. One is our traditional ten-week program in land management, which also includes some responsibilities with our summer day camp. A new opening is in environmental education with a primary focus on activities at Crow's Nest Camp.
The intern in land management will have the opportunity to learn about the workings of a land trust, become familiar with local flora, and gain experience in land management techniques. This position will have, among others, the following duties:
Invasive plant control, lawn and trail mowing, maintaining native plant demonstration gardens, and restoration of natural areas and hedgerows, and assisting with summer camp. The internship is 37.5 hours per week for up to ten weeks. A valid driver's license and background check is required; no housing is available. The environmental education intern will assist with all aspects of camp, including but not limited to planning, junior counselor training, setup and cleanup, leading activities with kids, and land management. Applicants should excel at and enjoy working with kids; training in first aid, CPR, and/or lifeguarding is a plus. The internship is also 37.5 hours per week for up to ten weeks, including the scheduled weeks of camp between June 26 and August 11.
