Rain did not deter the intrepid kindergarten through second graders who came to the preserve to see the signs of spring. The weekend's downpour let up long enough for us to take a hike, listen to spring peepers, see French Creek in flood, and look for emerging flowers. Educator Patience Kaltenbach points out the male flower catkins of alder growing near the start of the creek trail.
