This Friday night, at 8 p.m., Peter Osborne will be presenting his program: Theodore Roosevelt: The Champion of the Strenuous Life. I am excited about this program for two reasons. I have seen Peter Osborne's programs before. He is a talented storyteller and historian. Secondly, I am fascinated by Theodore Roosevelt's life and presidency. He didn't take the easy route. He was president at the height of the industrial revolution, yet he became one of the forefathers of conservation. Here was a citizen naturalist that hung out with the likes of Gifford Pinchot and John Muir. Here was a republican president that understood that conserve is the root word for both conservation and conservative. I can't wait to learn more about him.
