A pair of gray treefrogs (Hyla versicolor) settled in on the windowsills of the barn today. We hear them much more often than we see them—this is only the second time I've gotten a good look at one here at Crow's Nest.
Huddled on the sill they are about the size, shape and appearance of a lump of clay molded in your palm. Up close their patterns (even on the iris!) are dazzling. Denise says they look prehistoric.
