Crow's Nest Overdue Update
There's so much going on at the preserve I haven't kept up with sharing it.
We're running a couple days behind Mariton Preserve in terms of blooms and migratory birds showing up, based on what I read in Tim's entries on this blog.
Thursday evening I heard the first wood thrushes—my favorite bird song—and by Friday morning they were going strong. Gray treefrogs are calling from the canopy as well.
Mayapples and Carolina silverbells are blooming. Many of the other blooms have remained as well since the weather stayed cool and the rain didn't materialize. It really is a glorious spring, something I think I say most years.
Sean and I staffed a booth Saturday at the Warwick Outdoor Festival, shown here before the crowds arrived (despite the cold, attendance was fair). We had animal puppets for the kids to play with and colored sand paintings for them to create, and had many discussions with people who stopped by—about Natural Lands Trust, our preserves, and open space.
